She continues to remain active in the practice field, maintaining current license in her field. She has been recognized for her "motivational" public speaking abilities and is the recipient of numerous awards. She supports her research and practice activity with over 120 publications, including 7 textbooks, 79 articles, numerous book chapters and over 500 national and international workshops and community presentations. Ana M. Leon, PhD, LCSW, is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work, University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL. Over the past 22 years, Dr. Leon has had extensive experiences range from providing direct services in agency settings, psychiatric hospitals, and private practice to administrative positions in Departments of Psychiatry and mental health facilities. Although her experiences in mental health and psychiatry have included work with both adults and children, her major research interests have focused on psychiatric services for children and adolescents. As part of this interest, Dr. Leon has been instrumental in developing and implementing psychiatric services for instrumental in developing and implementing psychiatric inpatient and outpatient programs for conduct-disordered adolescents, and has served as a consultant for several local psychiatric hospitals. Dr. Leon has conducted numerous workshops for mental health professionals on interviewing, clinical documentation, juvenile offenders, clinical practice with Hispanic women, and assessing children and adolescents.
